The Masters tournament is about a month away and people are starting to wonder if Zach Johnson will be able to successfully defend his 2007 title.
Zach Johnson Ready for Title Defense
Thursday, March 6, 2008By Art Stricklin
Defending Masters champion Zach Johnson says he’ll use the same game plan for the 2008 Tournament, and will be seeking the same result as he defends his title, won in dramatic fashion last year.
Johnson participated in the annual defending champions’ conference call March 4, and said he was looking forward to another special week at Augusta National Golf Club.
“I’m looking forward to defending my title this year. It’s been a nice roller coaster and we’re excited to be on it.”Johnson shot a rock solid final round 69 for a one-over 289 total last April. He is seeking to become the first player since Tiger Woods in 2001-2002 to win in back-to-back years.
Last year, Johnson captured his two-shot victory over Woods, Rory Sabbatini and Retief Goosen by finishing 11-under par on the four par 5 holes at Augusta National, taking a conservative strategy which led to his first major win.
